Paper 1 of JEE Main consists of three sections- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates must attempt any two sections, with a total of 90 questions to be attempted in three hours.
Paper 2 of JEE Main consists of three sections - Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test. Candidates must attempt all three sections, with a total of 82 questions to be attempted in three hours.
The marks obtained in JEE Main are used for determining
eligibility for admission to various engineering colleges across India, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs).
Exam format and topics
JEE Main Paper 1 will consist of objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects while Paper 2 will have drawing test as well as objective type questions on aptitude test & mathematics subject only. The question paper will be bilingual i.e., available in Hindi & English language except for drawing test which will only be available in English language. There shall negative marking in both the papers. For each wrong answer one fourth or 0.25 marks shall be deducted.
